ABOUT ME
For seventeen years, from 1992-2009, I was founding executive director of Miriam's House, a residence in Washington, DC for un-housed women and their children living with AIDS. In 2010, had to leave the work I loved due to chronic migraine.
In recent years, migraine research has led to the development of the first medications specifically targeted to migraine causes. Because the worst of my pain has gone from 4-6 days per month to 4-6 days per year, I've been able to complete Georgetown University's Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate program.
Coaching feels a lot like what I loved best about my work at Miriam's House: deep connection with others; time to listen with compassion; the privilege of reaching out to the pain points of the world with a loving heart.
I bring to my coaching all the skills and personal characteristics that made me a good and effective leader. An empathetic and deep listener, my focus is on you - my client.
Life experiences--such as managing chronic migraine disease and healing from generalized anxiety disorder--have led me to develop skills and tools that I use in my coaching.
I'm also a writer. In 2014, I earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Nonfiction from Goucher College's low-residency program.
